Biography

Terence A. McShane
August 29, 1964 – September 11, 2001

Terence grew up in Deer Park, NY, the second youngest of five children.  He attended Sts. Cyril and Methodius Elementary School and St. Anthony’s High School, and was a 1986 graduate of Siena College in Loudonville, NY.  He was an avid rugby player and a member of the Long Island Rugby Club.  While in high school and college, Terence spent summers working as a lifeguard at Overlook Beach in Babylon, NY; it was there he met his future wife, Cathy.  Terence served for twelve years with the New York Police Department, where he attained the rank of Sergeant, and became a Firefighter with the Fire Department of New York in 1999.  Terence was killed at the World Trade Center in the September 11 terrorist attacks, along with six of his fellow firefighters from FDNY Ladder Company 101 of Red Hook, Brooklyn.  He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Cathy, sons Aidan, Colin & Sean, and many relatives and friends.
